Lego League - Course is FULL

Details
Guided by two adult coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams (grades 2-4) research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS®, then compete on a table-top playing field. It all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM), plus a big dose of imagination, to solve a problem. Along their journey, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. They also practice the Program’s Core Values, which emphasize discovery, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Lego League will run every Sunday, barring holiday breaks. More information will be given by the coaches as the league progresses throughout the fall.
Inspiring Youth Through Hands-on STEM Learning
Think back to your youth - there was probably a place or time that immediately evokes great memories and likely still puts a smile on your face. A place where you made friends, and probably without realizing it, learned some of life's most valuable lessons. For the kids and young adults in our youth programs, the JCC is that place.
For more than 30 years, the JCC has been home to "Bernie Camp" – a 10-week summer camp in memory of Bernie Solomon, beloved former Executive Director of the JCC, who died much too young. Club J, our after-school program, is a favorite among parents and kids. We pick kids up from several schools in the Salt Lake City area and bring them to the JCC for a fun and enriching afternoon.
