The JCC Pickleball League offers players an engaging and competitive environment to improve their skills and enjoy the game. This league follows a ladder format, where participants move up or down the ladder each week based on match results.

Players are partnered in a doubles format with others of similar skill levels, ensuring balanced and competitive play throughout the season. Each week’s performance determines new matchups, allowing players to progress up the ladder through consistent play and sportsmanship.

Junior Jazz Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a boys and a girls team available?

All Jr. Jazz teams are co-ed and we welcome all players to join!

When are team practices?

Practices are determined by each team's availability. Location and times of practices are determined after coaches and teams are assigned. The JCC will open select and limited times for practices that are assigned after registration.

My child has never played basketball. Can they join Jr. Jazz?

Yes! Jr. Jazz is a developmental basketball program made to educate children brand new to the sport or those continuing to grow their skillset.

How long are the games?

All Jr. Jazz games are 60 minutes. Games are played side by side on our half-courts. While friendly competition is encouraged, all players and parents must participate with good sportsman-like behavior. The JCC reserves the right to ask those who do not abide by J policy to leave the facility.

Will my child(ren) be playing for the full 5-8 p.m. timeslot on Tuesdays?

Tuesday games are played from 5-6, 6-7, OR 7-8 PM on Tuesdays. Your timeslot rotates weekly to ensure a round-robin play style for all teams. Game schedules will be announced by Sept 30.

Do I need to stay with my child during games?

Parents are encouraged to stay for their child's game to help encourage a healthy and positive atmosphere during, but you are welcome to drop off/pick up your child if preferred. Please keep in mind that children may not be wandering the J before/during/after Jr. Jazz sessions!

We are not in town for some of the Jr. Jazz schedule. Do I still need to pay the full amount?

The registration fee of $80 is required by all participants and cannot be adjusted if you are unavailable for some game dates. Children are not required to be at every game, but it is highly encouraged to ensure your schedule fits the Jr. Jazz dates as the program is developmental and helps to grow your child(ren)s skillset.

Who are the coaches?

All Jr. Jazz team coaches are volunteer parents/family of our players. If you're interested in coaching a team, please fill out this Volunteer Coach Form.

How can I assure my child and friend(s) are on the same team together?

Teams are determined by grade and age and are formed as balanced as possible throughout the divisions. We try to accommodate team requests when possible, but cannot guarantee that your child(ren) are on their desired team.

My child is on the instructional age range but has previous basketball experience. Can they play with the older kids?

Yes! If you feel as though your child has enough prior experience to play with our Novice age group, they are welcome to join in. However, it is Jr. Jazz policy that children in older age brackets are NOT able to play in lower divisions.

My child(ren) is in Club J. Can they be brought from Club J to Jr. Jazz?

Yes! Our Club J Team is happy to assist in transitioning your child to our basketball gym for games. The only exception is any game that starts AFTER 6 p.m. as Club J ends at 6 p.m. daily.

What is the game schedule?

All schedules for games are created AFTER registration is closed and coaches and teams are assigned. You will be contacted with your schedule by Sept 30.

Do I need to be a member of the J to register my child(ren) for Jr. Jazz?
