What Is Rock Steady Boxing?

Rock Steady Boxing is not just boxing, it is a fitness class specifically designed to address Parkinson’s symptoms such as slow or small movements, imbalance, stiffness, flexed posture, and respiratory weakness. Rock Steady Boxing’s (RSB's) scientifically based curriculum can be adapted to any level of Parkinson’s.

Who is RSB for?

Anyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease can participate in Rock Steady Boxing. Our program is tailored to accommodate individuals at various stages of the disease, ensuring a safe and effective workout.

Do I need to be a JCC member to join RSB?

RSB is open to JCC members and general participation with an additional fee.

What should I expect in RSB classes?

Classes involve a variety of exercises adapted from boxing drills, including footwork, coordination, strength training, and balance exercises. Each session is designed to challenge participants while providing a supportive and encouraging environment.

How do I get started?

To get started, please complete the intake form and schedule your evaluation which will help determine your class readiness based on your fitness and symptom progression.

Is RSB ONLY for people with Parkinson’s Disease?

Yes, the Rock Steady Boxing curriculum is designed specifically to address the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. This includes those with Atypical forms of Parkinson’s including MSA, CBD, PSP, and Lewy Body dementia.

Do I need a caregiver or partner to participate?

Some participants may require assistance during sessions, depending on their individual needs. The initial intake evaluation will help determine if you need additional support.

Is RSB safe for all stages of Parkinson’s Disease?

Yes, Rock Steady Boxing is designed to be safe for individuals at all stages of Parkinson’s disease. Our Certified Coaches tailor exercises to meet the needs of each participant, ensuring a safe and effective workout.

About Vera Pagan

Vera turned a life-changing event in 2019 into a passion for helping others transform through fitness. An ISSA Certified Trainer with multiple group fitness credentials, she believes in building strong foundations to create lasting results. In 2025, Vera became Rock Steady Boxing certified and now leads the program as Head Coach, inspiring strength and resilience in every class.

About Tal Gordon

Tal has been a certified personal trainer since 2017 and couples his experience with a Masters in Applied Exercise Science. He believes in making exercise as accessible as possible, which is why he is so passionate about bringing Rock Steady Boxing to the JCC. He will be an additional coach to our program and will teach classes in conjunction with Vera.
