Frequently Asked Questions
I'd Like to Have My Wedding Reception at the JCC, but It's Not a Jewish Wedding.
No problem. We gladly host events, weddings, and receptions from a wide range of faiths, traditions, and cultures. There is no requirement that you be Jewish.
Do You Require Kosher Meals?
Sort of. We call it "kosher-style." We do not serve pork or shellfish and ask that meat and cheese be placed on separate plates. All of our approved caterers can easily provide delicious and often more affordable meals to fit with our requirements.
What Is Your Capacity?
It depends. We have several rooms available and dozens of configurations for everything from a sit-down, formal meal to a lecture and just about everything in between. Please contact Toba Essig about your event and we can likely find a configuration that works for your event. Contact Toba Essig at rentals@slcjcc.org or 801.581.0098 ext. 129
What Are Your Rates?
Again, there's not an easy answer. We have several rooms, catering options, and configurations that it makes it confusing to post rates with so many variables. Also, we offer discounts to JCC members, nonprofit organizations, and University of Utah functions. To get pricing details, please contact Toba Essig at rentals@slcjcc.org or 801.581.0098 ext. 129
Isn't the JCC a Country Club?
Prior to the JCC taking ownership, the building had been the Fort Douglas Club and later, the Fort Douglas Country Club. Thanks to a generous gift from Izzi and Jeanné Wagner, it was purchased in 1997 by the JCC. Through two capital campaigns, additions were added to the original building to provide space for a preschool and a fitness center. A second building, The Jerry J. Kaufman Family Activity Center, was added to the campus in October, 2022.
