Seasonal Nutrition for Lifestyle & Performance: Part 1 August 27

Thursday, August 27 | 11 AM - 12 PM | Dance Hall
Instructor: Cari Junge

Aging actively means supporting your body so it can keep doing what you love—whether that’s exercising, traveling, or simply feeling your best day to day. In this interactive talk, we’ll explore the “energy-in” side of the equation: how nutrition and hydration fuel movement, recovery, and overall vitality.

As we transition from summer into the colder, drier months, our bodies experience shifts in appetite, digestion, hydration needs, and energy levels—especially in a mountainous climate where temperatures can swing dramatically. You’ll learn how these seasonal changes influence nutrient intake, absorption, and recovery, and how to adapt your daily habits to stay strong, energized, and resilient.

Blending modern nutrition with practical insights inspired by Ayurvedic principles, this session offers simple, actionable strategies to support energy, immune health, and recovery throughout the fall and winter season.

This is Part I of a seasonal series with Cari Junge, The Junge Method, designed to help you align nutrition and lifestyle choices with the natural rhythms of the year.

I've Fallen and I Can Get Up: Part 1 November 12

Thursday, November 12 | 11 AM | Stretch Studio
Instructor: Alison Holmes

Falls can happen to anyone, but knowing how to respond can reduce fear and prevent further injury. In this interactive class, participants will learn practical techniques for falling more safely, assessing themselves after a fall, and getting up from the floor—or finding help—when appropriate. We will also practice balance, strength, and mobility exercises and discuss strategies for preventing falls and injuries during winter conditions. Please wear comfortable clothing, socks, and supportive shoes.

Everyday Mobility: Strong Hips, Steady Knees December 17

Thursday, December 17 | 11 AM | Stretch Studio
Instructor: Anna Zanarini

As we age, hip and knee mobility naturally declines due to thinning cartilage, less joint fluid, and tighter muscles. This stiffness can lead to poor balance, shorter strides, and a higher risk of falls. Staying active with low-impact movement, stretching and balance exercises helps protect these weight-bearing joints. Come learn and practice exercises to keep knees and hips in good health.

Sound Bath FAQs

What is a sound bath? A sound bath is a meditative experience where participants are immersed in various sounds produced by instruments such as singing bowls, drums, and chimes to promote relaxation and healing.

What do I do in a sound bath? In a sound bath, you typically lie down comfortably and allow the sound vibrations to wash over you, inducing a state of deep relaxation and often leading to a meditative state.

I don’t meditate. Can I still take this class? Yes, you can still benefit from a sound bath class even if you don't meditate regularly. The experience is more about relaxation and immersion in sound rather than traditional meditation techniques.

What should I wear? Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and lie down easily. Avoid anything too restrictive or uncomfortable.

What do I need to bring? You may want to bring a yoga mat to lie on, a blanket for warmth, a pillow for comfort, an eye mask for greater relaxation, and maybe a water bottle for hydration.

Why would I want to attend a sound bath?  A sound bath may improve sleep quality, reduce stress and anxiety, promote deep relaxation, and support overall well-being through the harmonizing effects of sound vibrations.

What should I expect to feel during and after a sound bath session? During a sound bath session, you can expect to feel deeply relaxed, experience a sense of calmness, and possibly enter a meditative state. Afterward, you may feel rejuvenated, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced. Some participants also experience multiple nights of restful sleep after a sound bath.

How does sound healing work, and what scientific evidence supports its efficacy? Sound healing works by using specific frequencies and vibrations to resonate with the body's energy centers (chakras), promoting relaxation and balance. Studies suggest that sound therapy may help reduce stress and anxiety, alleviate pain, and improve overall well-being.
