Alex Rocco

Alex was born and raised in New York City. While attending Brown University in Providence, RI, she began a decades long part-time career teaching group fitness classes, personal training and fitness modeling. She spent several years as a recreational triathlete and taught fitness classes all over the country for many years including here at the J.

She enjoyed a brief career as a professional actress on various daytime soap operas and TV commercials. She also enjoyed some time as a Lexis/Nexis sales rep before deciding that medicine was her calling. She graduated from the Long Island University Physician Assistant Program and worked briefly in plastic surgery in NYC before starting in orthopedics at Beth Israel Hospital in NYC where she met her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Rocco. She has been assisting him in the operating room for over 25 years. He is a fellowship trained Foot & Ankle Orthopedic surgeon, but they perform orthopedic surgery on every part of the body except the spine! Together they own Utah Orthopaedics in Ogden which is one of the few remaining independent, physician-owned orthopedic practices. They have a 30 thousand square foot Platinum level office building that also has a 3-room Ambulatory Surgery Center. They have in-house physical, occupational and massage therapy, digital xray and DEXA Scanner as well as partners who specialize in spine and pain management.

She began Utah's only dedicated Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Health program in 2016 and serves on several osteoporosis conference committees, is a board member of several osteoporosis organizations and is a national speaker for several pharmaceutical companies.

She and her husband have a 20 year old son in the business school at the U and a 16 year old daughter in her senior year at Judge Memorial.
