Artist Bio
Flossie Kehr was born in Elkins Park, a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her love of painting began in childhood, when she spent Sunday afternoons painting with her grandmother. Inspired by her grandmother’s artwork, Flossie developed a passion for art and decided that one day she would become an artist herself.
Life took her in many directions before she returned to that dream. She married, traveled extensively, raised her son, and built a successful career in advertising. Later, she became the own of a family label-printing business that had been operated by her husband’s family for generations.
In 1999, after selling the business, Flossie moved to Utah. Remembering her lifelong passion for art, she enrolled at Peterson Art Center and began painting again. Her enthusiasm for life and travel continues to inspire her work, which reflects her adventures as well as a wide variety of other subjects.
Flossie works primarily in oil, watercolor, and acrylic, and more recently has expanded into mixed media. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries and restaurants and has received awards at the Utah State Fair and ISA exhibitions.
Flossie lives in Sandy, Utah, with her husband, Roger, and Thena, her standard poodle.
