Theresa L. Werner, M.D., is a Professor in the Division of Oncology, Department of Medicine, at The University of Utah School of Medicine, an Investigator at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and a member of the Experimental Therapeutics Program. Dr. Werner is a specialist in adult medical oncology, and her main areas of expertise is in gynecologic malignancies (cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, and vagina). Dr. Werner is passionate about women's health and she is an advocate for cancer prevention and screening. In her current role as Senior Director of Clinical Research for Huntsman Cancer Institute, she oversees clinical research including clinical trials for patients in Utah and the Mountain West.
Dr. Werner earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She then completed her residency in internal medicine and a chief medical residency at The University of Utah School of Medicine, where she received awards for excellence in teaching and the clinical care of patients. Dr. Werner then completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at The University of Utah and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. She is board certified in medical oncology.
